This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is 'Top Ten Books For People who Like...' and for me, it has to be Stephanie Perkins' Anna and the French Kiss.
If you liked...
You may like (in no particular author)...
I read and reviewed this in January and ABSOLUTELY fell in love with it, the idea of a new setting, new love and the teensiest bit of angst is very well done and this is one of the better YA contemporary romances around.
2: Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Uhhh... this is an obvious one, because Anna and st. Clair show their faces in this one and it has the amazing writing by Perkins, but I really enjoyed this one and had to include it.
This has all the feel good summer feeling of Anna and the added britishness. A new country, new romances. It's also worth checking out the sequel, Emma <3 LA.
4: This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
I love Sarah Dessen's contemps, and even though it's a little angstier than Anna, This Lullaby is my favorite and has the whole idea of a summer romance. Both of these are fave contemps of mine.
This is another amazing YA contemp romance, heavy on the romance. The idea of meeting somebody compeletely different to what you thought you'd want, and that person changing you is reflected here.
6: Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
This is a well written, well developed romance. A fantastic summer read like all of the books on this list and one of my fave YA releases of 2011.
I first read this as a fifteen year old and absolutely loved it, a great story of a boy overcoming a break-up in the most hilarious way and the girl who has to deal with the consequences. Hilarious!
8: Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
A girl falls for her best friend, but has to go through the wrong guy first. This is an emotionally charged read whereas Anna is funnier, but still a recommendation.
10: Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph
I really enjoyed this quick, fun and romantic read!
OMG loved Anna, Lola and The Statistical Probability... I cannot wait for Perkins next book. You should def.check out Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley! :))
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid chick-lit romance novels but I guess I'll have to start with these eventually because people have a lot of good things to say about these books you listed. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been into reading Contemporaries lately, since it's summer, so this list is helpful! I really want to read Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac since I recently read Zevin's All These Things I've Done. Thanks so much for the list!
ReplyDeleteooh a lot of new ones for my list, I loved Anna I'm excited for more readalikes!
